Garden Party | June 12th | from midday.
YOU are invited to join us to CELEBRATE the Queen’s 90th.
Along with millions of people in towns across the country, Cromer will come together on June 12th to celebrate.
Community groups from across Cromer, including the Friends of North Lodge Park and Cromer Parish Church, are coming together on 12th June to hold a picnic in North Lodge Park, on the same day that organisations across the country are planning events to mark the 90th birthday of the monarch.
Everyone is invited to bring their picnics to the Park from midday.
In the park there will be
- children’s arts and craft activities
- face painting
- balloon modelling
- bikes and trikes to ride
- music and dancing
- lots of community stalls and games
and, of course, flags and fun.
For some extra family fun we’re running some fancy dress competitions (under 5’s, 6 to 12, and teens) – use your imagination!
Gardening in the Park
Time to join the gardeners
The gardening volunteers have been working hard in the areas of the Park around the cafe, especially the Rose Garden – it looks really good! As the number of volunteers increases they need more tools to work with; please can you all look in your sheds (or where-ever you keep your garden implements) to see if you have any spare useable tools (especially spades, forks and hoes).
Talking of sheds, we’re applied for planning permission to put a shed, discretely, in the Park to store the tools – once planning permission is obtained we’ll need to source a shed and put it up – watch this space!
Don’t be shy if you want to help out in the garden, come and join the team – more information from Tracy: gardening@northlodgepark.org.uk. (Does anyone have a trailer we could borrow to help with transportation?)
Cafe in the Park
Through the winter and spring the cafe in the Park has been a joy. The volunteers have been amazing and we’ve met some wonderful people.
Now the summer approacheth we need to continue with the success you should all be proud to be part of – but we will need more help in the summer to cover when regular volunteers take holidays and to help during peak times. If you like the cafe you will like helping – why not come and give it a go? And don’t forget the more customers we have over the summer the more cakes we’ll need – if baking is your forte, please think about baking for the cafe.
Emma (cafe@northlodgepark.org.uk) is running the cafe for us over the summer – she’s looking forward to hearing from you.
As referred to above we have submitted a planning application PF/16/0552 to move (rebuild may be a better description) the wooden bandstand from the concrete area to create an events area on the old croquet lawn, and to erect a shed for the gardeners tools; this is needed because the Park surrounds North Lodge which is a grade II listed building.
Please keep sending us your comments and thoughts – the more we know about what you want in the Park the better able we are to align our priorities with yours.
Hope to see you soon
