To complete the landscaping we all need somewhere to sit and we have identified places across the upper lawn where we think benches would help bring the park together.
Benches will be allocated on a first-come first-seated basis – receipt of your donation will secure the next allocation. Benches 1-10 and 12 have been sponsored; we are now allocating a bench in positions 11..

There has been a significant amount of interest in this project so please bear with us while we allocate benches to sponsors. If after reading the details you are still interested don’t delay – benches will be allocated on a first-come first-seated basis – complete the form below to confirm your interest and amount of sponsorship. Benches 1-10 and 12 have been sponsored; we are now allocating a bench in positions 11.
There will be 2 types of benches:
12 x Traditional Park Benches (1.8m in teak )around the area, as shown on the plan below, to sit, enjoy the views and soak up the atmosphere of the park..
Manufactured in sustainably sourced, Grade-A teak for long life durability and aesthetic appeal. The bench inscription will be carved especially for you.
1 x special conversation bench – curved teak bench
External Diameter: 2.4m
Featuring a sophisticated sweeping curve and a raked back for added comfort, manufactured in sustainable Grade-A teak, this round wooden bench has been built to provide plentiful seating
We have chosen good quality benches for the park with a life expectancy of at least 10 years. All sponsors will have a line of text of their choice engraved on their bench.
Full terms and conditions for sponsorship can be found below. There are 2 sponsorship levels:
- £850 will sponsor a traditional bench
- £1700 will sponsor a special conversation bench
If you are interested in ‘part sponsorship’ why not get together with family or friends and sponsor a bench together.
Once we have received your donation and details, we will allocate one of the bench positions to you. We need to receive the words for your inscription within 7 days of your donation.
Time it was, and what a time it was….whatever your memories, you can preserve them by sponsoring one of our new Upper Lawn park benches in North Lodge Park.
The small print: Terms & Conditions of Sponsorship
- Benches are a standard specification and will be supplied by the Friends of North Lodge Park. All benches remain the property of the Friends of North Lodge Park
- Whilst benches will be maintained, benches form a natural part of the Park and will therefore become weathered, attract moss, etc. Sponsors should not attempt to maintain benches or their immediate environs without the authorisation of The Friends of North Lodge Park.
- The expected lifespan of the benches is at least 10 years.
- Bench sponsorship is for a period of 10 years from the day the bench is placed in the Park. If after 10 years the bench is deemed to be in an unfit state of repair it will be removed.
- If a repair is needed, the bench will be removed and assessed. If repairable, it will be repaired and returned.
- If a bench is deemed “beyond repair” it will be removed even if the bench is within the estimated 10 year life-span. A replacement bench may be offered at the discretion of The Friends of North Lodge Park.
- After 10 years the bench will be left in place while it is still safe to do so
- Benches are fixed in their location. The bench will be placed in the desired part of the Park on delivery. The Friends of North Lodge Park reserves the right to move or relocate the benches without liability should circumstances require such action. The supporter will be advised.
- It is the responsibility of the sponsor/s to contact the Friends of North Lodge Park to advise of any change of contact details. If contact cannot be made if necessary the Friends of North Lodge Park retain the right to take whatever action they determine appropriate.
- Appropriate bench sponsorship entitles the sponsor to an engraving on a bench installed on the Upper lawn
- Orders will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Friends of North Lodge Park retain the right to refuse wording they consider to be of an unsuitable nature. Numbers, letters and punctuation marks allowed only.
- Friends of North Lodge Park will have complete discretion over the location and installation date of benches.
- Owing to special events, essential repairs and renovations it may not always be possible to view your bench, therefore it is advisable to check access before a visit.
- The sponsor acknowledges that North Lodge Park is open to the general public and can not accept liability for damage, loss, vandalism or theft of any bench.
