This year’s annual Sunflower Growing Competition was won by Lenny Broughton with his multi-headed winner, which measured 2.4m (8ft).

William and Thomas Chenery won the prize for the smallest sunflower, which measured a petite 46cm (18”).

The certificates and prizes were presented by Andy Walker of the Walker Brothers at the free music event hosted by the Friends of North Lodge Park on Saturday 31st August.

The Friends of North Lodge Park use the money they raise through events in the Park to enhance the gardens and children’s play facilities.

What a good time

Well the Sun shone and people danced and sang to many of the songs it was lovely to see everyone having fun. The presentation of the Sunflowers was done pictures to follow. Thanks to Andy Walker for presenting the prizes. It was a lovely day.

Sunflower Competition

The Sunflowers were measured this morning and the winners have been informed. The prizes will be presented on Saturday 31st August at 10.45am.

Anyone who planted a sunflower as part of the competition can come along to the Park that morning to collect their sunflower head.
