The Friends have been talking to NNDC for sometime about making the best community use of the former tennis courts/hardstanding, and last month submitted a nine-page proposal to improve this last major derelict area of the park to bring it back into community use.

A multi-purpose shared space could combine multi-use areas and economic activities, and might for example include a horticultural hub, with a plant growing (and selling) area; pop-up/artisan market area; general leisure activities (eg ice skating); and repurposing the old bandstand, as a community facility and possible performance space.

We are also keen to explore options for developing new public lavatory facilities as well as incorporate some play elements into the area.

We will be working with Cromer Town Council to further develop a proposal, and are interested in hearing from community groups, individuals and businesses who would like to join us.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and backing. There are other interested parties already and maybe more will come forward now the signs are up so we will firm up our ideas and go from there.

Sounds fantastic, hopefully this can all go ahead, love the idea of plant sales. Went to a wonderful small garden market in Alcester yesterday which was popular and complements the wonderful cafe. 😊

Looks a really good idea

Sounds great, outdoor performances, plays, bands, solo artists, from Gilbert and Sullivan to up to date music for all ages would be great. Something for the youth of the area to get involved in as well would be good as there is very little for them to do. Craft sales and maybe a Sunday Market would be good . Look forward to seeing what happens in the future. X

Good luck. You have done so well with the rest of the Park you deserve to be awarded this project. I have such fond memories of musical days there when a child.

I like the idea of plant sales but not a poly tunnel. Why not a greenhouse?

Check out what they've done at Whitstable Harbour with their pop-ups for local trades - wooden structures look like fishermens huts - awesome atmosphere. Would be good to see likewise as Cromer has so much more to offer!

Great stuff! As you may remember, we would be very keen to be involved in revitalising the bandstand as a performance area for all sorts of music , theatre etc. Lucy and I would be happy to help and provide any support we can from The Belfry Centre, which we run.
